The Environment
The environment is really important to us. The whole reason we got into candle making was because we wanted to find a way to re-use our chipped mugs. Throughout the whole process (making, packaging and shipping), we do everything we can to make as small a footprint on the environment as possible. We’ve broken it all down below:
Wax: We use GW464 soy wax (a blend of 98% soy and 2% all natural soy-based additive). Soy wax is a plant based wax that is GMO FREE and contains NO paraffin, NO unnatural additives and is vegan and kosher.
Wicks: Cotton wicks featuring a paper braid style design. All natural and Zinc and Lead free.
Diffuser Oil: Our oil is DPG and alcohol free.
Reed Sticks: We use natural reed sticks. Our black reed sticks are coloured using a natural dye. They are biodegradable and can be put in the compost bin after use.
Fragrances: Our fragrances are free of Phthalate, paraffin and UV inhibitors. Fragrances are not tested on animals.
Jars: All our jars can be reused and/or recycled, including our aluminium tea light cups.
Packaging: We use kraft boxes to package our candles. In gift boxes, we use the following eco-friendly materials: tissue paper, tape and stickers (supplied by noissue.co.nz) and wood wool.
Shipping Packaging: We use compostable courier bags but, due to the adhesives used on the labels, there is currently no eco-friendly label option available in New Zealand. To reuse the bag, turn it inside out and reuse as a courier bag or cut off the labels before using as weed matting, seedling bags or a food waste bag. When the bag has served its purpose, put it in your home compost. We use a paper alternative to bubble wrap and secure it with our noissue.co.nz recyclable tape.
